CARSON RIUTTA
Abstract Acrylic Artist, Teacher & Blogger
Welcome! I'm Carson, and I'm thrilled you've discovered my corner of the art world.
My journey with art is deeply rooted in my childhood adventures, where winter holidays meant packing up the car and heading to Death Valley National Park with my family. Those camping trips were more than just vacations – they were my first art classes, with the bold and striking desert acting as my teacher.
I can vividly recall the stark contrasts of the white salt flats against the toothy dark outlines of the mountain ranges. The sweeping sand dunes were always in motion as the wind changed their shape every hour. The rainbow rocks of Kaleidoscope Canyon, taught me that all colors can be found somewhere in nature. These early experiences didn't just shape my artistic vision; they fundamentally changed how I see the world.
Each piece I create is like an abstract field note from my ongoing dialogue with nature. I approach my canvas with curiosity, wonder, and a deep respect for the natural world. This is why you'll find my works titled using scientific nomenclature, bridging the gap between artistic expression and scientific observation. It's my way of honoring both the spiritual and empirical ways we can understand our world.
When I'm not in my studio, you might find me walking with my boys around Lake Johnson, hanging with my honey in downtown Raleigh or planning my next adventure with my beloved little family. I love to travel, to journal, and to create a life that I'm excited to live everyday!
